This feature documentary explores the ancient model of health embedded within the lifestyles of the Alaskan Native peoples.  The story unfolds from the perspective of our main characters as they continue to sustain the ways of their ancestors and work to balance with the rapidly globalizing world beyond its borders.

A strong tradition throughout the arctic tribes, the extraordinary games of the north serve to strengthen body, mind and spirit, necessary for the remote and unforgiving landscapes from which they live.  From their lifestyles we discover the wisdom of their ancestors and the healthy choices they still represent. Their traditions are inspired from a deep respect for the elements, plants and animals from which they sustain.

Saturating Inuit culture, music is a link to the past.  Drum, song and dance pass on the stories from their rich ancestry.  Sound score will include recordings from traditional villages in rural Alaska.

Synopsis

The lives of four Alaska Native athletes intersect as they travel from communities around Alaska to compete in the indigenous sports of the circumpolar Arctic.  Dynamic and explosive, these ancestral games were crucial for survival in the extreme and unforgiving landscapes.  As Arctic cultures face unprecedented global change, they’re as relevant today as ever.
